Course Objectives:

By the end of the course attendees will be able to: 

  • Describe the principal issues involved in tree-related subsidence 

  • Explain the mechanisms of tree-related subsidence 

  • Explain the legal framework  

  • Identify different types of investigation and their appropriate application 

  • List types of evidence and explain their interpretation 

  • Describe the application of appropriate management principles 

  • Explain evidence requirements on Tree Preservation Order (TPO) applications 

  • Describe the relevance of risk prediction and assessment 

Course Content:

This course will provide delegates with the necessary information to provide well-informed advice and manage tree-related subsidence cases. 
This newly revised course is delivered online (via Zoom) in two morning sessions will cover:

Introduction and background to tree-related subsidence 


Legal framework
 

How insurance claims are generated 

Engineering solutions 

Types of investigation – desktop, monitoring, soil analysis 

Evidence types and interpretation 

Application – decision making and management 

Risk assessment / risk prediction 


Who is the 
course aimed at? 

Any arboricultural professional that are required to advise upon or manage tree-related subsidence cases.

Via Zoom – please ensure that you have a Zoom account and that your camera and audio are in working order.

Module Pre-requisites:

Experience working within the arboricultural industry or allied disciplines concerned with subsidence.
