This year, the Association was allocated five tickets for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show Young Persons’ Networking Breakfast on Friday 24th May to celebrate and inspire young people in horticulture.
We asked our members to nominate a young arborist with a link to their organisation to attend the event and represent arboriculture.
Michelle Ryan (Association Chair), Tom Lake (Apprentice at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens), Marcelo White (Seasonal Tree Assistant at Islington Council), Charlotte Millard (Association Training Administrator) and I attended on behalf of the Association.
The morning consisted of a tour of the show from Horticulturist Martin Emmett where we got to see the amazing gardens, speak with the designers and even had the opportunity to walk through a couple of the award-winning gardens. We then returned to The Newt restaurant for a lovely breakfast and got the chance to network with other young people at the event and listen to an inspiring speech from RHS Director Clare Matterson.
