You will provide arboriculture advice in order to promote the highest standards of arboriculture within Cheshire East, and in particular through the development of planning policies, delivery of development management advice, and protection of trees, woodlands, and green infrastructure of high amenity, and environmental and social value; ensuring the Service is delivered in a customer focussed, efficient, and responsive way in accordance with Council priorities, legislation, and best practice.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join an expanded arboriculture and forestry team of six professional staff within the Planning Service. Cheshire East Council highly values its private and public tree stock which makes a major contribution to its quality of place and environment. You will play an important role in assessing the arboriculture impact of both planning applications and applications to undertake work to protected trees. Other duties will include making TPOs, assessing High Hedge complaints, Hedgerow Regulations, and Enforcement. An ability to make site visits across the Borough is an important part of the role. You should have:
A relevant arboriculture related degree or diploma level qualification supported by further professional development. At least 5 years relevant professional experience. A good understanding of legislation relating to TPOs, High Hedges, and Hedgerow Regulations. Experience of working in local government. Effective communication skills, and be able to work in a team environment.
The job is based in Macclesfield, but you will be able to work from offices in Crewe, Sandbach and from home.
