Land and Heritage are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Arboricultural Consultant.

Supported by our Senior Arboricultural Professional you will support a diverse and growing client base in the provision of consultancy services mainly in Devon and Cornwall and occasionally elsewhere in the UK.

Land and Heritage is a multi-disciplinary team of ecologists, landscape architects, arboriculturalists and heritage experts providing services to private developers, health authorities, utility companies, large public sector and voluntary organisations. Our arboricultural consultancy is highly regarded and adopts a ‘low intervention, tree retention’ ethos. As we work ‘all in one team’ there is opportunity to work alongside ecology, archaeology and woodland consultants.

As an Arboricultural Consultant you will:

  • Provide expert, clear and professional arboricultural advice to clients.
  • Collate accurate tree data, carry out BS5837 Tree Surveys and provide written reports including AMS, AIA
  • Carry out Tree Risk-Benefit Assessment and Management Surveys
  • Provide site monitoring and reporting
  • Collate information and prepare proposals/quotations for work

As an Arboricultural Consultant you will be expected to be able to:

  • Provide professional written reports and communicate information and findings accurately and appropriately to clients to ensure their understanding.
  • Communicate with clients and colleagues in a professional and friendly manner with a proactive mindset.
  • Demonstrate experience of working in partnership with statutory agencies and local authorities.
  • Understand construction drawings, topographical surveys, and interpret wider landscape and biodiversity implications preferably with experience of working within protected landscapes and sites supporting protected species.
  • Keep up to date with the latest professional knowledge and developments.
  • Manage your workload to meet client deadlines and expectations.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office 365, QGIS mapping or similar and tree management software.
  • Supervise sub-contractors.

We currently operate hybrid working arrangements with staff working from home as well as from our office base at Menheniot near Liskeard.

A Professional Tree Inspector qualification is desirable, but we would consider those outside of the formal framework. Training and mentoring will be provided. Experience of managing contractors would be useful as well as VETcert (veteran tree specialist) qualification.

We will support you in attaining professional membership of the Arboricultural Association and/or other relevant professional organisations. Time is provided for CPD, training provision and there is scope for further progression within the company. We are committed to staff professional development through training and mentoring.

We are offering a salary in the region of £30-£40k with additional pension contribution, profit share and company share option.

If you are interested in this position, please contact Matt Jackson on 07775 144420 for an informal discussion.
