Course Objectives:

The Forestry First Aid +F (QAR) qualification is ideal for those that work or intend to work in a arboricultural role

The objective of the qualification is to benefit Learners by providing them with appropriate first aid training, in a forestry context, as set out in "First Aid at Work – Forestry Commission Policy for those that work on our land" enabling them to attain the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with specific special hazards in an emergency situation. 

This short, yet informative course provides Learners with the knowledge and practical competencies needed for the treatment of injuries and diseases that could occur whilst working in a forestry/agricultural specific environment. Topics covered are: extreme hot and cold temperatures, managing catastrophic bleeding, crush injuries and Lyme disease.

Course Content:

The Forestry Commission recommend topics including:

  • Severe bleeding (i.e. chainsaw injury)

  • Crush injury

  • Hypothermia

  • Lyme Disease

It must be noted that these topics are to be covered in addition to the standard syllabus.

Assessment

The EFAW+F course is internally assessed by Continual Assessment.  There is no formal assessment process.

The FAW course is assessed by Multiple Choice Question paper and an observed practical assessment from an assessor who was not involved in the delivery of the training.

 

Certification

On successful completion of the course candidates will receive certification valid for 3 years.

Module Pre-requisites:

-Candidates must be physically able to complete all aspects of training, including the ability to perform CPR on the floor, in order to successfully pass the course. -If you or any member of your group has any medical conditions or special requirements they believe will impact upon their involvement on the course, please let us know so that we can make arrangements

Terms of Cancellation or Amendments to details

  • We reserve the right to cancel courses and refund applicants if there is insufficient demand.
  • A FULL charge will be applied to any booking cancelled less than 10 working days before the event.
  • A £30 administration charge may be applied to changes made to bookings that have been received and acknowledged.
